February Wedding Studio Feature Table

February's Table at the Wedding Studio was inspired by our recent showing at the Belk "Engagement Party" This Sweetheart Table look takes on a completely different feel when placed in a more dining friendly environment.

Belk "Engagement Party"

I was happy to receive a call from a lovely lady at Belk ~ a department store here in the Columbiana Mall.  She had seen our vendor booth at the most recent Bridal Expo and invited us to be part of their store "Engagement Party" that the Bridal Registry Department holds twice a year.  I thought is would another great way to reach out to Brides & Groom's once more this year before our next big show at the end of February so with the colors of Platinum, Ebony & Purple Heart in mind I created a look that was well received at the show.

I always like to add in the table some sort of "Favor " like the Silver boxes tied with pretty Satin Ribbon.

I love the look of Mercury Glass...and Vintage Carnival Glass... these unique something old something new pieces as seen in the "Genie Bottle" and the candy dish doubling as my floral vase were must have's in the design of this table.
Flowers in a variety of purple colors add another dimension to the table scape.  Here we mixed Plum colored Mums, Aubergine Rannunculous, Purple Heather, White and Purple Alstroemeria and Ivory Roses.

Purple Chargers and fun Plum Floral designed Salad Plates yet another pop of color placed atop white silver rimmed Dinner Plates.

I always say that the Black Spandex Chair Cover is the "Little Black Dress" for a chair.  Sleek and Elegant!

We gave everyone a lot to talk about at the show and as always we strive to promote conversation with interesting table pieces.  It doesn't just have to be a floral centerpiece and more Interesting vases like the tall purple opalescent at the back is fun, unusual and memorable!

January Wedding Studio Feature Table

For those who have visited the Wedding Studio you will know that we feature a table that changes each month with a new look.  January was a version inspired from the Bridal Showcase that we had just presented in Garnet.

Simply Stated with Tangerine & Kiwi

We met this Bride and Groom about a year ago.  Their colors in Tangerine - Kiwi and Crisp White coupled with a very  Less is More approached offered a Simple Elegance that the guests found very romantic and cheerful for a still Winter-time in Columbia, South Carolina Wedding.  The Club 2412 Custom Gobo that we shot on the Dance floor was a fun reminder of the year in planning that pasted for all friends and family.

                                                            Congratulations ! R&C

January Bridal EXPO 2012 ...in RED!!!

We were asked to create another vendor booth space for Dreamy Affair Signature Events here in Columbia, South Carolina.  Leslie is one of Columbia's premier Wedding Planners and we are naturally honored to design something for her.  Leslie wanted something in Red since it was named one of the Top 10 Wedding Colors for 2012.  In addition to this stunning color choice we were also given the challenge to create a "Breaking Dawn ~ esque" Ceremony Arch for all you "Twilight" fans.   Here is what we created for this 10' x 20' space....

Our Chameleon Arbor is ideal when creating the look for a Wedding ceremony.  Here we have the structure wrapped in authentic vines and dripping in white wisteria, Lily of the Valley, and crystals. While Red and Cream Roses accent the piece. Soft Ivory Sheers drape the pillar legs adding a touch of romance. A non- traditional Red Carpet Runner creates a VIP look

The Table is designed with Garnet Embroidered Taffeta Table Linens and Burgundy Pintuck. White China and White Napoleon Chairs create a pop of color.

We hope you like our design...and look forward to designing your Special Day!

In Closing ~ A Year At A Glance 2011

In moving to Columbia, South Carolina from the fast pace life of Vegas, Nevada, I can say that we are thankful that we were able to indulge our urge to start our own business and that we have such a fantastic group of supportive family and friends that have inspired and encouraged us to press forward with our dream to pursue a job that we love.  The fact that I have a talented husband with the same passion for event design that I do, could not make this company any more perfect!

Our first year has now passed. We opened silently, with little to know advertising and still had some of the most amazing people cross our designing path.  We learned a lot and are extremely grateful for all the help we have received along our journey.

A special thank you goes out to the Foss Family for your belief in our dream and seeing our vision along with us as we continue on our pursuit of happiness!

To our great friends in design, The Lopez Family at Appalachian Party Rentals, for always being at the ready to work hard to build our dream and for spreading the word throughout the Blue Ridge Mountains.  You are amazing friends of which we are truly thankful for.

To our amazing crew that are relentless workers and strive for perfection in all that you do, Thank you from the bottom of our hearts!

Last, but not least, to our kids, who upon telling them we were leaving Vegas for a more enriched life, left behind friends with courage and allowed us to begin a life more fulfilling for us all.  And for being proud of our accomplishments in 2011.  Believe it our not even parents like their kids to be proud of them!

As the curtain closes on 2011, we look forward to our exciting upcoming events and new adventures still to come in 2012.

Stay tuned for more event stories and photos......

Happy Holidays to Everyone!

Yours in Design,

Part 16: A Year at a Glance ~ Ghoulish Gala

I love my job! It is forever changing, from weddings with horses, carnivals and casino nights to 1920's proms and now The Ghoulish Gala!  Another event brought to me by GoNC High Country.  The Annual Ghoulish Gala would be held at the Inn at Crestwood in Boone, North Carolina.  The Inn was and old house that had been converted, and the perfect setting for a Ghoulish Gala.  Instantly, I could see this grand space transformed into a sort of  Glamorous Gothic Dracula's Castle turned nightclub.

 The the Library.....

Rich woods, windows along one wall opening to a large patio and two large stone fireplaces was a perfect backdrop.  With such good bones, all we needed to do was come in with a bit of old world, creepy carfully staged props for this room in which guests came to bask in fine food.  The room inspired a darkside with  Harvest colors of Pumpkin Orange, Rusty Browns and Amber Glow.

Carefully staged mantel props and creepy cobwebs helped this space feel spooky

Old vintage bottled and a rare set of old encyclopedias

Vintage books in Harvest tones
Cant forget the witches cauldron and her get away broom
The second fireplace stage with vintage photos found in the Inn and more vintage bottles and webs

"Creepy Baby"  was a real hit!  With his baby doll parts at his side.

Side Bars offered another perfect opportunity to showcase more fun spooky features

"Mummy Kitty" watched over the guests

The Bar ......

This small space featured a fabulous bar and offered us yet another chance to add in subtle decor.

The bar chairs featured bustle back chair covers and topped with a red sash like a pirate skull cap
Vintage Bottles with spooky Labels and black Roses
Playful ghoulish signs gave the guests a laugh

The Main Room and Gothic Dance Club ~

with the high ceilings and stunning fireplace we were able to capture a Spook-tacular Rich Gothic look with lighting and hundreds of ghoulish conversation pieces....
Sparkling sequined pumpkins with photos or famous ghoulish guests

An amazing focal point in this grand room
The Bride of Frankenstein, one of the favorite guests at the Gala
Our esteemed Vampire with the best vantage point

Dangling 20 feet above, from the Iron Chandelier our friend Madame Black Widow
Pillar Candles on Jet Black Gothic Candelabras with black crystals and purple satin Bows were one of many centerpieces

A built in buffet buffet offered the perfect setting for gruesome apothecary jars
...jars of bleeding hearts, white worms, gray mice and assorted fingers were some of the many treats found.  Tall pillar candelabras dressed with black feather boas and creepy cloth enhanced the room.

Zoey Zombie made an appearance in her fine evening gown. She even invited a friend for Dinner!

Fun centerpieces with crystal eyes and purple velveteen and gold brocade ribbon garnished tabletops

Staged with  intimate lounge seating and cocktail rounds with with sparkling overlays of black sheer and crystals.
All the niches I could find were staged with fun ghoulish props like sparkly sequined pumpkin and photos of all the famous ghoulish guests of past like Frank and the Munsters.

Guy Gravedigger really enjoyed hanging around

At he lights went down, the event lighting really popped !!!  Bright Green,Ultra Violet Purple and Amber glowing candles played off of every texture.

The Goulish Gala was such a divine event!  We had the best time scheming up wonderfully dark ideas for this annual event!  The guest had a great time and the attention to all the ghoulish details was noticed.
Thank you GoNC High Country for trusting our design and letting us run wild with imagination !!!
