Part 3: A Year at a Glance ~ The Foremost Good Fortune

The Foremost Good Fortune by Susan Conley
It certainly was good Fortune for me when I received a call one afternoon in late February.  We were in the middle of setting up for the Bridal Show Open House~ a post bridal show event held at The Medallion Center~ when Christina called.  In just a couple of weeks she was planning on having a book signing event with her book club. The unique feature to this particular book signing was the author, Susan Conley was her niece, so naturally we needed to really pull off something as unique and lovely as the author and the Aunt....An Asian High Tea was the direction that we were going. With Bright Tangerine and Deep Red Colors.  Lucky Bamboo and Red Signature Chopsticks!  Why you ask?  Well for anyone who has read or even seen the cover of the book you would understand.
The event took place in a quaint poolside club house in Lexington in March.   We really only needed to enhance the good bones of the existing space with a bit of fun.  All the while playing off the story line of this amazing book!

The Asian High Tea need only Three components....
Hot Green Tea, Fortune Cookies, and of course Potstickers! Potstickers?!   Read the book....Chinese Steamer Baskets with flavorful Potstickers from my favorite restaurant Fusion Bowl could not have rounded out this event any better.  The Green Tea perfectly seeped and the guest delighted by the subtle references to the book that our design played with.

We created Lucky Bamboo Centerpieces that lucky book club-ers got to take home along with their very own Red Lacquer chopsticks just like the ones on the book cover.

The Piece de Resistance was the giant framed poster of the book cover that we had made to hang over the fireplace. I quite frankly could not bear the thought of the large painting of a ship behind our author that was the current focal point of the space soooo.... for the afternoon the ship painting was tucked away in a nearby closet for safe keeping....

Was it actually possible to have had so much "Good Fortune"?   To have met such amazing women in such a short time here in this beautiful state.

Thank you Christina for bringing this amazing event to us!
