Part 6: A Year at a Glance ~ Doxa & Ricky's Wedding

I received a call one afternoon regarding the need for special effects props for a children's  production.  In my conversation with Doxa's brother he inquired on her behalf about some ideas that she had and wanted to know if  I could call her.  Well naturally I called and was very glad I did. Doxa, with her tiny voice answered, but for a young woman with a tiny voice, boy did she have big ideas!!!  From Indian decent, I was thrilled as color and brilliance is what Indian weddings are all about ! Gold. Guava and Cream are the Wedding Colors selected.  Below is a brilliant account of Doxa's sense of tradition and style.

The Stage was decorated with Antique Gold Satin Swag, White Taffeta Drape with White Organza and 12ft Crystal Curtain overlays.  The Bride and Groom Parsons chairs were flanked by White Roman Columns topped with 40" Ornate Bottle neck urns filled with White and Cream Pave Roses and trailing gladiolas in Guava.  The entire stage back lit in Guava lighting.

Doxa's most grand design wish was a lighted swag ceiling treatment.  The center was to be a 4 Tiered Crystal Chandelier crowned with flowers . It was a first at Brooklyn Baptist Church Convention Center and took some persuading that it could be done, but we got the thumb's up and Wow! What a fabulous statement!  Every guest that walked through the door marveled at the sight.

All the tables were set with White Linen and Antique Gold Organza Overlays with the chairs covered in white as well each tied with Gold Organza sashes to match.  Amber Up lights around the room highlighted niches in the wall creating a warm glow while over 1200 ft of warm vanilla colored twinkle lights and White Crystal Organza draped the ceiling.

As we got close to the Big Day Doxa called me needing help with floral arranging.  Her arranger would no longer be available on her important summer day in June, so without seeing what florals we had to work with we rushed in to get this important part of her decor completed.  Doxa  had all of the flowers and vases available for me to put together.  White Gladiola's, Cream Vendella Roses, Cream Hydrangeas, Springeri and Fern. We added in a few crystal stud's to create a bit of sparkle.  The end result was a very tall and sophisticated centerpiece and focal point at each table. Each placed on square mirrors with tiny tea lights around.

The Bridesmaids Bouquets were to be designed with guava pink Roses, touches of cream roses and baby's breath. We added in the crystals for glamor.  The Bridal Bouquet was to be all Cream colored Roses and mini cala lilies with hints of baby's breath, Clear Crystals and asparagus fern.

Doxa and Ricky in stunning fashion presented themselves in traditional fashions.  Ricky in Cream with Gold Brocade and Doxa, a stunning vision, in Guava and artfully stitched sequin and beads of gold and opalescent.  Beautiful ornate golden jewels completed her look as they received guests on stage all night; the line stretched across the entire ballroom with friends and family eager to have their photo taken with these handsome newlywed's...even me !!!!

Thank you Doxa & Ricky for inviting us to share such an amazing day!
